How to Use the SPC Flooring Calculator

This program is designed to help you accurately calculate the number ofSPC flooring boxes you need to order for your room, based on your chosen pattern. Here are the simple steps to use it:

1. Enter Your Information

• Area Size (Square Meters): Enter the size of your room numerically (decimals are allowed).
• Select SPC Floor Pattern: Choose your desired installation pattern between "Straight Lay" and "Herringbone" This selection is very important as each pattern has a different coverage area per box and a different recommended spare percentage.
• Spare Percentage (%): The program will automatically set a default value based on your chosen pattern (5% for Straight Lay, 15% for Herringbone), as the herringbone pattern requires more cuts and results in more waste. However, you can adjust this number as needed.

2. Press the "Calculate" Button

Once you have entered all the information, press the "Calculate" button to start the calculation.

3. View the Results

The program will display a summary and the number of boxes to order. This figure already includes the spare percentage and is rounded up to the nearest whole number. You can use this number to place your order immediately.

The Formula Used for Calculation

To help you understand where the numbers come from, our program uses the following calculation principles:

1. Calculate the Total Area Required: Total Area (sq.m.) = Room Area × (1 + Spare Percentage / 100)
2. Calculate the Number of Boxes to Order: Number of Boxes (boxes) = Total Area / Coverage Area per Box
   The coverage area per box differs depending on the selected pattern:
   • Straight Lay: 1 box covers 2.196 sq.m.
   • Herringbone: 1 box covers 1.364 sq.m.

Note: The final number of boxes is always rounded up to the nearest whole number to ensure you have enough flooring.)
