How to use TPI M400 leveling mortar to achieve a perfectly smooth surface.

  1. Preparing the site: Clean the existing concrete floor to remove dust, oil stains, or dirt. If the existing floor has large cracks, repair them before pouring the concrete. The ground needs to be watered until it's just damp. (No standing water allowed) to prevent the original surface from absorbing water from the concrete.
  2. Draw the square and set the level: Determine the desired pouring thickness (the ideal thickness is 1-5 cm) and mark or use a corner guard as a reference line.
  3. Mixing cement: lead TPI M400 self-leveling mortar. Mix with 8 liters of clean water. Blend and stir until smooth and consistent. Let it sit for a while, then stir again.
  4. Pour and level the surface: Pour the mortar onto the prepared surface. Use an aluminum trowel to level the mortar along the marked corner. If there are air bubbles, use a spiked roller to remove them.

Can TPI M400 self-leveling mortar be left bare to create a loft-style floor?

I don't recommend it. M400 mortar is designed as a "substrate" surface. If left bare without a covering material, the mortar surface will become dusty and may be easily scratched from heavy use.

Why is using M400 so important before installing SPC vinyl flooring?

Because most SPC flooring uses a click-lock system for assembly, if the underlying concrete surface is uneven, uneven, or bumpy, stepping on it can cause the click-lock mechanism of the SPC panels to break and the floor to warp. Pouring M400 to level the surface before installation is therefore the best and most effective solution to address the root cause.

What should I do if I need to pour a concrete layer thicker than 5 centimeters?
