Recommendations for using Crocodile Gold adhesive cement
Surface preparation:
New surface:
The surface to be covered must be hard, smooth, level, dry and clean, free from dust, oil, concrete curing compound, paint, cement scraps and other foreign objects, and have normal water absorption. If the wall surface is newly plastered or newly leveled, the standard curing time should be 7 days or 168 hours per 1 cm. of thickness.
Original surface:
Clean the surface by spraying water and scrubbing the surface to remove dust, oil, concrete curing compound, paint, cement scraps and other foreign objects. Sweep away any water that is trapped on the surface before applying the cement glue.
In the case of laying over existing tiles:
The adhesion between the tiles and the concrete surface must be checked. If the adhesion is low, the original tiles must be removed.
Mixing ratio
Measure 20 kg. (1 bag) of Crocodile Gold cement glue per 5.60 liters of water or
Measure 2.7 parts of Crocodile Gold cement glue to 1 part of water by volume.
Mixing
- Pour the cement glue into the water and use a low speed mixer at about 150 revolutions per minute (150 rpm) to help mix it well.
- Leave to allow the chemicals to cure for about 15 minutes, then stir again before using. Do not add more water or cement glue after the chemicals have cured.
Usage
- Use the smooth side of a notched trowel to spread the cement adhesive evenly over the floor or wall to be tiled, making sure it is sufficient for each tile to be used.
- Use the notched side of the trowel to spread the cement glue into a groove by holding the notched trowel at an angle of approximately 60 degrees and scraping in a direction parallel to the short side of the tile (use a notched trowel suitable for the size of the tile).
- Use a smooth-sided notched trowel to spread cement glue over the back of the tile to compensate for any warping or twisting of the tile and to ensure that the cement glue is completely covering the back of the tile. This prevents air pockets from forming, allowing the tile to withstand the full pressure and prevent cracking or peeling later.
- Place the tile on the cement adhesive. Slide the tile across the tile perpendicular to the notched trowel line. Tap the tile to firmly adhere to the cement adhesive throughout the entire tile.
- Each tile can be aligned as desired within 20 minutes, depending on the working temperature, and the tiles should not be aligned or knocked after that time. When pressing the tiles onto the cement adhesive, make sure that the back of the tile is in full contact with the cement adhesive throughout the entire tile. The appropriate thickness of the cement adhesive should be:Between 2-10 mm depending on the size of the tile or stone.
Curing and grouting tiles
After laying the tiles, they should be left to cure for approximately 24-48 hours, depending on the temperature, and then grouted. To achieve the highest quality, Crocodile grout should be selected to suit the type of groove and location.
